The Trans Am roars back to life in Smokey and the Bandit (2026), a high-octane reimagining of the classic 1977 road comedy. Directed by David Leitch (Bullet Train, Deadpool 2), the new film promises a wild mix of speed, humor, and outlaw charm, bringing the Bandit into a modern era of adrenaline-fueled car chases.
Set in today’s world of high-tech surveillance and corporate corruption, the story follows Jack “Bandit” Dalton (Chris Pratt), a daredevil driver with a reputation for breaking every rule of the road. When a rebellious heiress, Sydney Blake (Margot Robbie), hires him for a cross-country run to expose a dangerous conspiracy, the two find themselves hunted by law enforcement, bounty hunters, and a relentless sheriff who will stop at nothing to bring them down.
The supporting cast includes:
- Woody Harrelson as the cigar-chomping Sheriff Beaumont, a modern spin on Buford T. Justice.
- Anthony Ramos as Bandit’s tech-savvy partner, bringing new tricks to old-school driving.
