The legendary adventurer is back. MGM has released the long-awaited first trailer for Tomb Raider 2 (2025), with Alicia Vikander reprising her role as the fearless explorer Lara Croft. Directed by Misha Green (Lovecraft Country), the sequel promises bigger action, deadlier puzzles, and a Lara Croft who has fully embraced her destiny as the world’s greatest tomb raider.
Following the events of the first film, Lara now hunts for an ancient relic said to wield catastrophic power if unleashed. Her journey takes her across storm-wracked seas, booby-trapped temples buried in the jungles of South America, and snowbound mountaintops hiding secrets of lost civilizations. But Lara isn’t alone—shadowy organizations and mercenaries are already one step ahead, determined to claim the artifact for themselves.
The cast expands with Daniel Kaluuya as a rival archaeologist with questionable loyalties, and Eva Green as a cunning antagonist whose obsession with the relic could change the course of humanity. Veteran actor Pierce Brosnan joins as Lara’s mentor, a scholar with ties to her late father’s past.

The trailer teases thrilling set pieces: Lara navigating collapsing ruins as spikes close in, an adrenaline-pumping motorcycle chase through rain-soaked city streets, and a breathtaking cliffside leap that echoes the video game roots.
Composer Tom Holkenborg (Junkie XL) brings back the pulsing energy of the first film with an even more epic score, while Misha Green promises “a Lara Croft who is sharper, braver, and more dangerous than ever before.”
With stunning visuals, globe-trotting adventure, and Vikander’s steely performance, Tomb Raider 2 (2025) looks to cement itself as the defining Lara Croft film of a new era.
