Cartoon Network’s strangest and most beloved pup is back—this time in a brand-new live-action/CGI hybrid film that reintroduces the eerie world of Courage the Cowardly Dog (2025). Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and directed by Andy Muschietti (IT, Mama), the movie promises a darkly whimsical take on the cult classic.
The story follows Courage, the timid pink dog living in the middle of Nowhere with his owners, Muriel and Eustace. When supernatural forces begin haunting their farmhouse—aliens, ghouls, and otherworldly monsters—Courage must once again face his fears to protect the family he loves. But this time, the evil plaguing Nowhere may be bigger and darker than ever before.
Bringing the characters to life:

- Steve Buscemi voices Courage, capturing both his neurotic fear and hidden bravery.
- Olivia Colman plays Muriel, the kind-hearted woman who always sees the good in Courage.
- John Goodman takes on the role of Eustace, the grumpy old farmer with a knack for trouble.
The trailer mixes surreal horror with heartfelt comedy: Courage trembling in the dark as glowing eyes surround the farmhouse, bizarre CGI monsters shifting through grotesque shapes, and hilarious slapstick moments where Courage’s fear becomes his greatest weapon.
Cinematographer Chung-hoon Chung (Last Night in Soho) gives the film a dreamlike, unsettling tone, while composer Bear McCreary delivers a score that swings between creepy tension and playful whimsy.
Director Muschietti describes the film as “a love letter to the bizarre—equal parts terrifying and tender, just like Courage himself.”

With its blend of nostalgia, scares, and family heart, Courage the Cowardly Dog (2025) looks ready to win over both longtime fans and a new generation.
