The end was only the beginning—the thunderous first trailer for Ragnarok 2 (2025) has arrived, directed by Robert Eggers in his most visually arresting and mythologically charged work yet. Building on the apocalyptic fury of the original, this sequel expands the Norse saga into an even grander, blood-soaked spectacle where destiny itself hangs by a thread.
In the ashes of the first Ragnarok, the Nine Realms lie shattered. Thor (Alexander Skarsgård) emerges from the void, scarred but alive, carrying Mjolnir reforged with ancient runes. But the balance of the cosmos is broken, and a new prophecy warns of an even greater doom—one that will demand the rise of new heroes and the fall of old gods.
Joining the saga is Anya Taylor-Joy as Skadi, a fierce huntress from the ice realms whose vendetta against the Aesir masks a deeper purpose. Mads Mikkelsen returns as Loki reborn, walking the razor’s edge between savior and destroyer, while Idris Elba reprises his role as Heimdall in a performance layered with gravitas and sacrifice.

The trailer is a storm of imagery: colossal sea-serpents thrashing through midnight waters, frost giants waging war beneath aurora-lit skies, and god-slaying duels fought atop mountains wreathed in flame. Cinematographer Jarin Blaschke drenches each frame in elemental fury, while composer Hildur Guðnadóttir weaves a score of bone-rattling war drums and mournful Viking chants.
Eggers calls Ragnarok 2 “a primal, operatic journey into the heart of myth—where every battle is both the end of the world and the birth of a new one.”

With its brutal grandeur, mythic scope, and all-star cast, Ragnarok 2 (2025) looks set to become one of the defining cinematic events of the decade.
