The world’s strongest hero punches his way into live action—Sony Pictures has dropped the first trailer for One Punch Man (2026), directed by Justin Lin. Based on the global phenomenon, this adaptation blends jaw-dropping action, outrageous comedy, and larger-than-life spectacle into one of the most anticipated anime-to-film events ever.
Ryan Gosling stars as Saitama, an ordinary man who trains himself into becoming a hero so powerful he can defeat any opponent with a single punch—only to find himself bored by the lack of challenge. His quiet suburban life is turned upside down when the Hero Association recruits him to battle a rising wave of monstrous threats that could annihilate the planet.

John Boyega joins as Genos, the fiery cyborg disciple determined to uncover Saitama’s secret, while Idris Elba appears as the Hero Association’s stoic commander. Villainy rises in the form of Bill Skarsgård as Garou, a martial arts prodigy who believes true strength can only be forged in endless combat.
The trailer is an explosion of spectacle: skyscraper-sized monsters tearing through cities, Saitama casually swatting enemies into oblivion, and high-speed martial arts duels rendered with stunning choreography. Cinematographer Matthew Libatique captures the mix of humor and devastation with kinetic energy, while Junkie XL provides a booming, heroic score laced with playful beats.
Director Justin Lin describes One Punch Man as “a love letter to the superhero genre—equal parts parody, action, and heart, with the kind of insane scale only Saitama deserves.”
With its global fanbase, cutting-edge effects, and balance of comedy and chaos, One Punch Man (2026) is primed to be one of the most unique live-action blockbusters of the decade.
