GROWN UPS 3 (2025)

The boys are back — and this time, they’ve brought an unexpected wildcard to the party. Grown Ups 3 arrives in 2025 as a comedic reunion like no other, blending the goofy charm of the original gang with a jolt of manic energy courtesy of Jim Carrey, who joins the ensemble in his first-ever team-up with Adam Sandler. What follows is a nostalgia-fueled, laugh-out-loud romp that proves age is just a number — and ridiculousness is forever.

Set several years after the last installment, the plot kicks off with Lenny (Adam Sandler) organizing one last summer getaway to honor a late friend’s bucket list. Of course, the gang’s all here: Kevin James’ Eric is still blissfully out of shape, Chris Rock’s Kurt is embracing empty-nester chaos, David Spade’s Marcus is recklessly single (again), and Rob Schneider makes a surprise cameo that sets the tone: absurd, awkward, and weirdly heartwarming.

But the big twist? Enter Jim Carrey as Danny, a childhood friend who moved away years ago and has returned with far too much energy and zero boundaries. Think Ace Ventura meets a yoga-obsessed divorcee. His presence injects a wild-card element that flips the usual group dynamic on its head. Danny challenges each of the guys to confront their middle-aged complacency, and chaos — glorious, slapstick chaos — follows.

Director Dennis Dugan returns to the helm, and this time, with a beefed-up $90 million budget, he goes bigger in every way: the water park sequences are outrageous, a paintball tournament turns into a full-scale war, and one set-piece involving jet skis, fireworks, and synchronized dancing is so ludicrous it might just go down as a modern comedy classic.

What Grown Ups 3 gets right is tone. It doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is: a celebration of dad jokes, bad decisions, and the kind of friendships that only grow stronger (and stranger) with time. It’s comfort food cinema — but served with just enough new spice to keep it fresh.

Jim Carrey is undeniably the MVP. His improvisation runs wild, bouncing off the straight-man reactions of Sandler and James with giddy abandon. Whether he’s attempting to stage an interpretive dance funeral, joining a kids’ Fortnite tournament, or meditating naked in the woods, Carrey commits — and the result is comedy gold.

But amidst the silliness, there’s heart. A subplot involving Kurt’s daughter leaving for college, and Lenny’s fear of becoming irrelevant in his kids’ lives, brings surprising emotional weight. These aren’t just men avoiding maturity — they’re men redefining what it means to age with joy.

The soundtrack, featuring classic rock hits and a few feel-good originals, carries the same nostalgic punch as the jokes — think Springsteen meets TikTok trends. And yes, there’s a cameo from Shaquille O’Neal, and yes, it’s absurd. (He plays a life coach who lives in a hot tub.)

😂 Final Verdict: 8/10
Grown Ups 3 is everything fans hoped it would be — dumb, sweet, loud, and full of laughs. Carrey and Sandler are a surprisingly magical pair, and their chemistry turns this third chapter into the funniest and most heartfelt yet.
